We are pleased to announce that Todd S. Bontemps has joined the firm as a Partner in the Intellectual Property group.
Mr. Bontemps brings more than twenty years of experience in his field with particular expertise in intellectual property protection and strategic branding, both domestically and internationally. His practice is focused on trademark, copyright, domain name, product packaging and advertising matters. Mr. Bontemps helps clients with a wide array of brand counseling, including new name, logo, and corporate tagline clearance, worldwide registration, trademark, copyright and domain name licensing and transfers, and targeted enforcement against infringers and cybersquatters.
Mr. Bontemps routinely advises clients on online and brick-and-mortar trademark clearance, registration, licensing, policing, and enforcement. He has prevailed in U.S. District Court lawsuits and TTAB opposition and cancellation actions. He regularly assists clients with Internet domain name registration, acquisition, and enforcement and has repeatedly tracked, identified, and stopped online trademark infringers, cybersquatters, product counterfeiters, and celebrity defamers. Mr. Bontemps has successfully stopped the unauthorized online sales and marketing of a variety of products and prevailed in enforcement matters resulting in seizing and destroying a wide variety of consumer counterfeit products including software, footwear, and motor oil.
Prior to joining Potomac Law, Mr. Bontemps practiced for nearly two decades in the Intellectual Property group at Cooley LLP. Mr. Bontemps received his J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1992. He earned his B.A. in English from University of California, Los Angeles in 1987
