Potomac Law is committed to serving the public good and providing legal services to those who cannot otherwise obtain legal representation. Our lawyers work on pro bono matters throughout their careers at the firm, and we champion pro bono work through mentoring, training opportunities and the commitment of resources.
Our lawyers have provided pro bono counsel to both nonprofit organizations and individual clients on a range of matters, including civil rights, criminal defense, immigration law, employment law and tax-exempt organization law. We work with many different public interest organizations to ensure a diverse range of pro bono opportunities for our lawyers.
Many of our lawyers volunteer their time and talents to community organizations of all types – from legal services and other nonprofit institutions to educational and religious organizations. We are proud to have lawyers who support civic and charitable matters that reflect our culture and commitment to the community.
Among many other recent matters, our attorneys have actively represented clients on public and private disability benefit denials and reasonable workplace accommodations, represented individuals seeking asylum, and represented three Senior D.C. Superior Court judges who are suing the United States and the District of Columbia for adjustments to their pensions in light of recent court decisions on judicial pay. The firm’s lawyers are assisting an international organization help advance agricultural biotechnology in developing nations, as well as serving as communications lead for a nonpartisan nonprofit organization created to build support for common sense gun reforms.
