We are pleased to announce that William B. Baker was elected Secretary of the American Bar Association's Section of Science and Technology Law.
PLG Partner William B. Baker was elected Secretary of the American Bar Association's Section of Science and Technology Law at the recent annual meeting in Chicago. His election to this position puts him in line to become Chair of the Section in three years. Mr. Baker previously served three years as the Section's Budget Officer. The Section of Science & Technology Law's mission is to be the premier global authority at the convergence of science and technology law. The Section promotes sound policy and public understanding on such issues to enhance the professional development of its members.
Mr. Baker has more than 30 years experience in privacy and data security, consumer marketing, communications, and postal law. He handles a wide range of privacy and data security issues arising under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), state data security and breach notification laws, and international privacy and data transfer laws. He has represented website publishers and social media in Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) proceedings regarding consumer privacy and data security, location-based services, behavioral advertising, and related new media issues.
