We are pleased to announce that Nicholas “Nick” C. Sottile has joined the Charleston, SC office of Potomac Law as a Partner in the firm’s Real Estate and Finance practice groups.


Mr. Sottile represents businesses in commercial real estate and business transactions and advises on a wide range of complex matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and other corporate law matters. He has represented both buyers and sellers in public and private merger and acquisition transactions, including successfully representing a minority shareholder in a shareholder oppression case.

Mr. Sottile has substantial experience in the hospitality and technology industries, having represented hotel developers, software companies and commercial real estate developers in various strategic transactions. In addition to his transactional practice, he regularly advises public companies and public company boards on corporate governance, SEC disclosure and fiduciary duty matters.

Prior to joining Potomac Law, Mr. Sottile was a Partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. He is active in the community and has served in numerous community and industry leadership roles including the Charleston County Bar’s Legal Fee Disputes Board and the College of Charleston Foundation’s Board of Directors. He also serves as Clemson University’s IPTAY Representative.

Mr. Sottile received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina and his B.S. from the College of Charleston.
