We are pleased to announce that Julia Anne Matheson has joined the firm as Partner in our Trademark, Intellectual Property, and Litigation Practices.
Ms. Matheson’s practice covers all areas of trademark, trade dress, product configuration, and unfair competition law including worldwide clearance, portfolio management, and enforcement, due diligence, false advertising, licensing, social media, and internet disputes. She has been lead counsel in well over 100 inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and has significant experience litigating in federal district courts. Her clients, which range from startups to Fortune 100 companies, cover industries in the fields of communications/internet, consumer goods, personal care products, retail, food and beverage, fashion, entertainment, pharmaceutical, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, and financial services as well as numerous associations and charities. In her 30th year of practice, Ms. Matheson has been awarded numerous professional accolades as well as repeatedly recognized by major ranking publications, clients, and industry members.
Prior to joining the Washington, DC office of Potomac Law, Ms. Matheson was Head of the U.S. Trademark Group at Hogan Lovells and a partner with Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, for over two decades. She received her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and earned her J.D. from Columbia University Law School.
