Potomac Law is pleased to announce that Partner Senwan Akhtar is the Special Editor of the April 2024 issue of New Jersey Lawyer magazine, the award-winning professional journal of the New Jersey State Bar Association. In her capacity as Special Editor, Akhtar selected the magazine issue’s theme, authors and article topics. She edited the articles, and generally shepherded the magazine issue from its initial conceptual stages through its publication. Akhtar has served on the editorial board of New Jersey Lawyer magazine since 2011.  

The April 2024 issue covers topics in business law, and features nine articles covering a wide spectrum of topics. The articles include discussions of laws affecting business lawyers throughout the United States, as well as laws specific to New Jersey. The issue opens with a discussion on the Corporate Transparency Act, which went into effect on January 1, 2024. Other topics include recent developments relating to the New Jersey Revised Uniform Limited Liability Company Act and the New Jersey Business Corporation Act. The issue also incorporates timely discussions on corporate venture capital participation in startup funding, intellectual property considerations in mergers and acquisitions transactions, mitigating cybersecurity risks in mergers and acquisitions transactions, and an analysis of non-compete laws and trade secret statutes.

The magazine is delivered bimonthly to members of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Each issue focuses on a particular area of substantive law, showcasing informative articles by authorities in the field.

Akhtar concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate and real estate law and recently earned the CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe) credential. She represents clients in corporate mergers and acquisitions transactions, data privacy and general corporate matters. Akhtar advises lenders and borrowers on a wide variety of financing transactions. She also represents clients on all aspects of commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, and the negotiation of leases for office, industrial and retail properties. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.S. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
