PLG welcomes Jim Collins as partner to its New York office in the Corporate and Transactional practice group. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advisory.
During his eighteen years of practice, Jim has gained substantial experience in leading multi-million-dollar M&A, partnership, joint venture and capital raising transactions, with a particular focus on financial advisory firms. He is also experienced in advising clients on SEC reporting, general corporate matters, drafting of limited liability company agreements, entity formation and governance.
Jim spent seven years in-house with broker-dealer firms, and during a portion of that time his responsibilities included client and operational matters in addition to legal matters. In those multi-faceted roles, Jim gained valuable experience into the day-to-day operation of a business, which gives him valuable insight into the issues and demands facing his clients.
Jim’s in-house experience included time spent at boutique investment banks, which reflects his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to assist businesses in their growth and development. Jim’s in-house experience with investment banks also gives him a unique perspective on the M&A process, from both a legal and business perspective.
Prior to joining PLG, among other roles, Jim was a partner with Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and served as General Counsel and COO with Republic Capital Group Holdings LLC. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. in Economics from College of the Holy Cross.
