Potomac Law is proud to share that its client MachineGenius, Inc. received the first-ever conditional certification to provide IP Captioned Telephone Services (IP CTS) utilizing Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) from the Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau. IP CTS is a service that allows those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing to receive captioning of their telephone calls. This marks the first time that the Commission has granted authority to a provider to offer IP CTS services exclusively through the use of ASR, rather than relying on communications assistants to generate captions. Qualified users will be able to download MachineGenius’ Olelo app onto their existing smartphones and other mobile devices to generate captioning of their calls.
