Potomac Law partner and longtime Washington D.C. government contracts attorney Devon Hewitt was the featured guest on the podcast Small Business Set Aside, hosted by Randy Lange, CEO of Firebird AST.
In the wide-ranging 40-minute discussion, Hewitt talked about the most recent court cases that are impacting the government contracting arena, the increase in protests and joint ventures in the last decade and why that trend looks like it will continue, subcontracting, teaming agreements, and tips for building and sustaining a government contracts business.
Hewitt has been a government contracts lawyer for nearly 40 years, and Lange said in the podcast that Hewitt’s legal advice is “top-shelf.” Hewitt went into more detail about the 8(a) program as it relates to social disadvantage and the Small Business Administration; the decisions by the federal district court in Tennessee and the Supreme Court on the use of race-based admission criteria to university and colleges; and the intricacies of the relationships between prime contractors and subcontractors.
Hewitt concluded the interview by stating that “It Takes a Village” to be successful in the government contracting space. Tune in here to learn more from Hewitt about what the village looks like and listen as she shares an insider’s view of this dynamic field.
