The article stems from Bontemps’ recent legal enforcement activities for The Pioneer Woman. These nefarious ads use fake endorsements by celebrities to induce consumers to purchase dubious products, often with outrageous shipping charges. The con artists behind the ads purposefully target celebrities’ social user groups in hopes of tricking them into believing the celebrities they follow use, endorse, or market these bogus products.
